Toine Horvers (Extract) 05102017

Toine Horvers' work is based on movement: time - space, expressed in descriptive writing and performances with his body and voice. Although circles and spirals always played an important role in his works, his meetings with dervishes in Turkey especially triggered his interest in the movement of rotating, as a metaphor for time and space. Toine developed a series of movement-sequences rotating around his centre while calling aloud the names of the four wind directions when passing them. From there some works followed where rotating, via spiralling, results in circling. Toine recently performs his rotations and spirals in acoustic outdoor locations.
