EOSC Ireland Long Term Data Preservation webinar
Sustainable, interoperable, research infrastructure depends on clear standards, expectations, and delivery of services around data and metadata. To realise the long-term value of digital objects we require preservation repositories that are prepared to act to ensure they remain understandable and usable as well as discoverable and accessible. The Long-Term Data Preservation Task Force (LTDP TF)[1] is working to clarify the understanding and roles of data and metadata preservation within the context of the wide range of services that form the EOSC. This work has resulted in an overview and discussion paper[2] that defines preservation in terms of outcomes, systems and actions related to any digital object. During this session we will have a closer look at the feedback collected from stakeholders’ consultation beginning of 2023 and the first set of recommendations of the task force concerning the vision, roles, finance, and role and functioning of a network of trustworthy digital repositories (TDR)[3] in the context of preservation in EOSC.
