Deirdre Feeney 22110218
Visual artist Deidre Feeney questions concepts of the ‘real’ in perception. Feeney’s compositions of the constructed + projected (moving) images explores how glass (as optic-machine) can (re)construct images. Feeney projects cues from her surrounding environment, (using systems of mirrors, lenses + light sources) in combination with historical moving image techniques, to form new composite ‘live’ images. Feeney has a background making miniature architectural glass structures to embody projected video animations. Feeney completed a BA at Trinity College Dublin. She is currently a PhD candidate at the Australian National University (ANU) School of Art and a sessional lecturer. Feeney is the recipient of several grants and awards, including ANU scholarships, Stephen Procter Fellowship and Australia Council grants. She represented Ireland at the European Glass Context in Denmark; was artist-in-residence at the National Film and Sound Archive in Australia and exhibits internationally.
