Clare’s work often reflects on how social space is organized, engaging with variations on public forms and forums: addressing monuments, the design of urban spaces, places for dwelling, places of labour, and scenarios of performance and play. He has worked in a variety of mediums including animation, video, photography and sculpture, as dictated by the needs of each individual project. He produces work that has the potential for multiple forms of presentation in an attempt to connect with as wide and varied an audience as possible. He has had several solo exhibitions both nationally and internationally including most recently, If Not You - Sirius Arts Centre, Cork 2017; Que sais-je? - Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris, France. 2015, I Believe In You - The Model, Sligo, 2015 & The Craword Art Gallery, Cork 2014. Selected Group Shows have included August Destiny - The Pearse Museum, Dublin 2017 & St Carthage Hall Lismore Castle, Waterford, 2016; What If We Got it Wrong - Touring exhibition; Seachange - Tulca Festival, Galway 2015; Phoenix Rising - The Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin 2014. He has participated in numerous residency programs nationally and internationally including Time Exchange, Philadelphia, USA; Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris, France; Guapamacátaro Interdisciplinary Residency, Mexico; Platform, The Soap Factory, Vassa, Finland and IMMA to name a few. In 2012 he was commissioned by the Arts Council to produce a new work to celebrate 60 years of the Arts Council Collection and in 2008 he was awarded an Open Award EV+A 2008 by the International Critic and Curator Hou Hanru.
