“An illustrated talk with special reference to hybridity in both image and material throughout her work”. Alice Maher’s work touches on a wide range of subjects often reprising, challenging and expanding mythic and vernacular narratives. Her artistic practice spans painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, and video. Animated film expands on her lifelong devotion to the practice of drawing. In 2012 the Irish Museum of Modern Art presented a retrospective of the artists 30 year practice at Earlsford Terrace. ‘Becoming’ included many iconic works as well as a newly commissioned two screen film, ‘Cassandra’s Necklace’ (most recently seen at Eva International in 2016).
