Daniel Jewesbury 10112016

“The Headless City”. Daniel Jewesbury was born in London in 1972 and studied Sculpture at NCAD, graduating in 1996, since when he has lived in Belfast. Daniel now works as an artist, writer, lecturer and editor and is the curator of the TULCA 2016 Festival of Visual Arts in Galway, which he has titled The Headless City. Daniel will explain the background to the themes and concepts of the show, giving context from his nearly 20 years of research into the contemporary city, and discussing the relationships between some of the works in the show. He'll also discuss his approach to curation of an exhibition across a number of vastly different art and non-art venues across the city of Galway, and the inclusion of a large number of events. Daniel is currently Lecturer in Film Studies at Ulster University. He has published widely on the redevelopment of 'post-conflict' Belfast, on Irish visual and material culture, on public art and publicness, and is a regular contributor to Source photographic review, most particularly on photobooks.
