A feeling is defined as an emotional state or reaction, and also as an idea or belief, especially a vague or irrational one. While preparing this talk I came to appreciate that I predominantly relate to my painting practice through feelings. The voice in my head, the conversations I have with my painting and the way I write about them all circle around feelings. It often feels like by following feelings and questioning feelings I am guided through making a painting. Aileen Murphy is an artist who makes paintings and drawings. She studied at NCAD, Dublin, and Staedelschule Art Academy, Frankfurt am main. Recent exhibitions include Bounty (with Diana Copperwhite), The Kevin Kavanagh Gallery Dublin (2018), Naked Cheerleaders in my Chest, Deborah Schamoni, Munich (2017).
