Margaret O'Brien 30092019

Margaret O’Brien works with experimental forms of installation, sculpture, sound, and kinetics. Her approach involves a wide spectrum of volatile materials and challenging approaches to making that produce provocative works, many of which operate within a live state of malfunction or breakdown. The real, precarious nature of these works explores failure as a critical space within activities of research and practice. Through immersive installation and potentials of ongoing repetition, O’Brien’s work also triggers changing experiences of time, self, and space within the live viewing experience of the work. She has exhibited widely including Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, London, Belfast, Dublin and Berlin.
