“Visual Fiction”. Barry is a visual artist who's practise encompasses numerous media and is influenced by an interest in presenting ideas around truth, fiction and our relationship into the spatial, formal and psychological conditions of ascribed convention. Barry is also drawn to the idea of bending time, space and reality often this involves enormous physical commitments to create moving image and performative works. The Royal Hibernian Academy recently presented a solo survey of the artists works, entitled Brittlefield during the summer of 2016, she is currently artist in residence at the Irish Museum of Modern Art for 2016 whilst working on several projects and commissions by IMMA, Lismore Castle Arts and the Arts & Heritage Trust UK. She will present solo in 2017 in Block 336 in London and in 2018 at MARFA Contemporary Texas. She recently won the prestigious 2017 Lexicon Commission Award and Modern Ireland in 100 artworks by the Royal Irish Academy. www.aideenbarry.com
